Ben & Sarah

Hey, we’re Ben and Sarah Thoburn, the proud owners and operators of CoinOp Amusements. We’re passionate collectors and dedicated treasure hunters — just like you.

Ben has been a picker and collector basically his whole life — he grew up in the industry, surrounded by thousands of machines and immersed in countless picking adventures and shows. Arcades, pinballs, and jukeboxes are in his blood — and he has dedicated his career to finding and selling them.

The two of us first bonded years ago over all things vintage, and the travels involved in finding them. This shared love continued after we married in 2019 — which soon lead to the official creation of CoinOp Amusements the same year.

We’re based out of Hagerstown, Maryland — and we love nothing more than travelling and hunting down treasures. The thrill of matching that perfect item to the customer who’s been looking for it for years, that is what motivates us every single day.

With a big truck and a big trailer (and usually with our trusty sidekick Grizzly), we’re always ready to start another pick, dig through another lost space, or help clear out a forgotten collection.

This is a family business — and we’re so happy to be running one that is near and dear to us. It’s been a true honor to get to know so many in this fantastic industry — and we can’t wait to meet more of you!

Thanks for your continued support and business!

our warehouse

Roughly 50,000 square feet — which means 5 floors, 26 rooms, 9 ramps, and 2 loading docks — and flanked by competing railroad tracks, CoinOp Amusements couldn’t have picked a better place to call home!

Originally hosting the Caskey Baking Company, our shop was built in 1913. Still in place are the original conveyor belts and platform where the horse-drawn carriages would load up for daily bread deliveries!

In 1954, the building changed hands and became R.D. McKee Wholesale Lumber and Hardware. In the early 1990s, R.D. McKee closed the doors, thanks to Hagerstown’s newly-arrived big box hardware store.

But we’re still finding forgotten treasures from mid-century and before — wooden ladders, old tools, hand-made nails, horse shoes — and of course beer cans! Also, many of our local customers remember shopping (some even working) in the building as kids!

Before we got a hold of it in 2019, 339 West Antietam Street changed owners a few more times — housing an online pirate/tiki-themed party store, Segway of Hagerstown, and a storage facility.

Just as previous owners had updated and improved the structure, we’re happy to be able to carry on the tradition. We are currently focusing on installing new windows and doors — as well as making modern safety improvements.

She’s got a lot of life left in her — and we are proud to take part in her history!
